The Slopes of Sylvan Lake is a quiet, upscale sustainable community just off the shores of Sylvan Lake, Alberta Canada. I was trying to create a visual brand identity, that paid homage to the sloping landscape along the shores of Sylvan Lake and capture the natural beauty of tree lined ravines, full of Aspen and various other species of trees and shrubs. The shape of the Aspen leaf became the conceptual element for the design turning the Aspen Leafs into an abstract bluff or group of trees. While using the brush script font in “The slopes” as a flowing treatment that allowed the wordmark to fit nicely integrated below the Aspen tree “icon” portion of the logo. The marketing collateral was designed around the premise that it would be a quarterly hybrid magazine brochure which would be distributed to various shops, galleries and eateries around town. The layout and imagery reinforced the scope and planning of the development, with quality printing, beautifully rendered estate home imagery and strong bold layouts which reflected the exclusive estate homes and the vision of the developer.
